Detailed Assortments

Dimexon has created a unique industry standard for Detailed Assortments, offering products in 16 polished sizes, 20 colours, 30 clarities and 5 makes, resulting in a wide range of 48,000 standardised product SKUs. A key differentiator is the quality of our products and consistency of assortments across volumes, and this is achieved with a low rejection rate of 5-10%. Our trained workforce assorting production into these Detailed Assortments ensures:

  • b. Instant SKU delivery 

One Stop Shop

The key to a beautiful piece of jewellery is the use of the right stones. Dimexon's One Stop Shop service eases our customers' procurement efforts, by allowing them to source a wide range of products without having to initiate and manage multiple vendor relationships, and their complexities, including issues on quality, price disparity and supply continuity. Our global operations, industry knowledge and diversity of products are supported by a well established polished trading division - enabling us to offer products that may not form part of our 'Core Product Portfolio'. Over 90% of the annual diamond requirements of some of our leading brands are supplied through this service.

Tailored Polished Make

Aware that different markets have different product needs, Dimexon recognises our customers' requirements and translates those subjective needs into Tailored Polished Make or 'Make Types'. We achieve this by manufacturing the rough according to its natural shape, all within the realms of internationally proven parameters. In round brilliant cut diamonds, Dimexon has taken specialisation to a new level, by adding another dimension to product classification of the 4 Cs. We differentiate the Tailored Polished Make arising out of generic rounds in small sizes of -0.18 carat, manufacturing 5 categories of makes defined by the crown height / table size ratio in all products. This level of specialisation of makes in generic round brilliant cuts has made Dimexon the first mover in this area in the entire industry.

In-house grading for single stones

The right grading of stones is a direct determinant of overall quality of products and it also defines process efficiency of the customer. For large stones (0.18 carats and up), Dimexon offers in-house grading facilities, where stones are graded to GIA standards. This provides our customers with a fair representation of the diamond parameters at a fraction of the cost of international laboratories, whilst maintaining the quality benchmark. This service is particularly useful for the clients who integrate the loose diamonds that they buy within an exquisite piece of jewellery and offer it to their consumers. 

 

We employ a team of skilled graders, trained as per GIA standards, working under the leadership of our experienced expatriate in-house expert gemologist. Vast experience, coupled with strong technical knowledge, enables us to provide accurate grading of stones, providing our customers with significant cost savings.

Single stone certification

At times, certain customers require independent third-party certification of diamonds that they sell to their consumers. However, preferences for certifications vary across markets. Dimexon's geographical spread, control over inventory movement and strong relationships with leading independent certification laboratories like GIA, HRD and IGI are the foundation on which our single stone certification process is based. Through this service, Dimexon provides customers with a complete certification, also providing access and the logistical handling of the certification process.

Bespoke Products

At Dimexon, the focus on bespoke products is driven by customer needs. Through this service, Dimexon customises its products based on customers' demand, providing them with a product-mix that is tailored to their requirements. These are offered in the required clarity, colour, make and calibrated sizes. Our strength lies in our assortment capacities that have over 500 sorters based out of West and South India. Our large production capabilities, coupled with skilled manpower strength thus allow us to create Bespoke Products and offer them consistently to our clients.

Microscope sorting and grading

Dimexon addresses the needs of its high-end retail customers and watch / jewellery brands through its microscope sorting and grading service. This process ensures that every stone ordered is checked under the microscope, resulting in the highest degree of quality in terms of colours and clarity. The customer's exact requirement is thus fulfilled.

Calibrated sizes

Dimexon's calibrated size gauges a number of factors, which include breadth, length and diameter to name a few. For customers such as high-end jewellery manufacturers, watch / jewellery brands, this process saves time on sorting and more importantly, gives them the precision in terms of size that they require. It also frees up related investments in skilled manpower and equipment. As a result, our customers can focus on the more critical aspects of watch / jewellery manufacturing.

Bagging & Fluting

Dimexon's Bagging and Fluting process streamlines the manufacturing process for our customers. The department prepares matching pieces for designed jewellery units which customers can directly set in the watch cases / jewellery.

 

Our service is delivered on the back of our integrated IT systems and processes, which tracks every diamond using bar code technology. This level of traceability ensures high-quality results, creating a strong competitive advantage and giving our customers confidence in the end product.

 

Our scale of operations in this area, coupled with the significant number of customers using this high-precision service has enabled us to provide our customers with the benefit of economies of scale even while conforming to individual cyclical requirements.

Manufacturing on demand

Recognising that our customers will at times have to fulfil unplanned orders in a very short production cycle time, Dimexon offers a Manufacturing on demand service. This is made possible through the application of lean methodologies in our production line. Our SAP-enabled integrated IT system allows us to reduce conversion time of rough procurement to polished delivery to just a few days. The strength of our IT system ensures that the entire process is held together on schedule, right from the point of procurement to delivery.

Just-In-Time

Dimexon provides a unique 'Just-In-Time' (JIT) service to customers who require a high degree of efficiency in their inventory control. This service relies on the combined strength of multiple factors including lean manufacturing, financial strength to hold inventory, forward planning and an efficient trading department.


Dimexon has been able to build this precision-driven process over the years. A key contributor is the cellular layout of our production units. Strong IT systems and process controls ensure that an integrated set of processes work seamlessly in a synchronised manner to provide the products exactly according to our customers' JIT requirements. At their end, the service helps them reduce 'Work in Progress' stock, resulting in a reduction in capital employed and a totally efficient pipeline.

Kan Ban

The Kan Ban service gives our customers timely access to products according to their needs and helps them reduce their time to market and cost of inventory holding. This, in turn, allows them to manage their demand cycles effectively. Through the offering of this service, Dimexon maintains inventory for our customers at agreed levels. This is made possible through our manufacturing and sorting efficiencies, which are effectively supported by our strong IT systems.

Sorting service at customer premises

For customers working with large inventories, Dimexon provides sorting services at their premises. While providing them with our in-house expertise, we also assist them in training of their own staff, which also serves as a permanent solution for the process. This also enables our customers to plan their inventory better, saving them precious time and resulting in a more efficient manufacturing and distribution process.

Inventory management & control

In jewellery manufacturing, effective inventory of stones is critical to ensure that the manufacturing schedule is not compromised. Whether orders are planned or not, a shortage of one stone can jeopardise the manufacturing of the entire collection. Dimexon works with customers to ensure that inventory management and control is done effectively, and can combine the service with sorting, JIT and Kan Ban to make certain that the inventory is always in sync with the manufacturing schedule.

Forward planning

Dimexon's Forward Planning process is based on proprietary scientific forecasting tools that use various demand models and algorithms to derive the final product demand. Our strong market intelligence enables us to achieve high accuracy in forecasting future demand in relation to our production availabilities, making us one of the very few companies who are able to achieve this level of detail in planning. We share these tools with our customers and work closely with them to plan their diamond requirements on a quarterly basis. Knowing that their supply is secured and will match their product requirements helps them focus on the core areas of their business.

Product development

Dimexon's Product Development and Technical team assists customers in drawing up effective product development strategies that allow them to create differentiated product offerings and market them with unique messages. This distinguishes them from the competition and allows them to achieve higher margins and increased in-store traffic. Marketing campaigns

Dimexon's full time marketing division believes in investing in new ideas that grow our business along with that of our customers. Drawing upon the experience and skills of our marketing team and our global distribution system, we provide our clients with marketing support in terms of new market entry and development, existing market penetration and marketing consultancy, where we advise our clients on their campaigns including advertising and media planning. This makes it possible to translate our clients' marketing investments into a tangible growth of their brand.

Design services

Dimexon's global relationships and experience have given it a strong capability in jewellery design. This has enabled us to provide design services to our customers - whether it is for a single purpose or a long-term service. We are also able to cater to the needs of different customers due to our exposure to global markets. Our experienced and talented design team works with our customers to come up with ground-breaking designs that incorporate trends and fashions from around the world. 

 

The design services also include inputs on store displays, POS materials and packaging. By partnering with our customers, we ensure that the design services take into account the customer's brand, the design of the collection and the marketing strategy for that collection. Thus, the customer gets a high-quality product in terms of marketing material and packaging, at low costs, leveraging the skills and experience of Dimexon's in-house Visual Merchandising expert. 

 

Dimexon's design services also include exhibition booths. Exhibitions are a very popular and impactful way for Dimexon's customers to connect with retailers, who are their consumers. However, since this does not form a core part of their business, Dimexon designs exhibition booths for customers, where we understand the customer's marketing messages and translate them into the exhibition booth format. Using our expertise, we offer an end-to-end solution, right from conceptulisation of the booth design to the actual set up of the booth in the exhibition / fair.

Assessment of market opportunity

Many customers are looking to analyse market trends and identify opportunities for growth, but are restricted by time and lack of experienced partners. Dimexon offers customers the assessment of market opportunity service where our marketing team partners with our customers to first understand their market and growth plans and then carry out a systematic study of the same - using our market relationships and tools for analysis. The findings are compiled into a detailed report and shared with the customer who can then use it to plan future goals and objectives for the business.

Brand portfolio rationalisation

Change is a constant in every business and the diamond and jewellery market is no different. As trends and consumer preferences change, there arises a need for every manufacturer to take a look at their product portfolio and revamp it to suit present and anticipated future needs. 

 

Dimexon provides a brand portfolio rationalisation service where we analyse the customer's product portfolio and its brand offering in detail. Keeping in mind market conditions and the long-term strategy of the customer, we then provide new ideas and solutions in terms of design, marketing and distribution and suggestions on how these can be implemented.

Mystery shopping

Mystery shopping is a tool used by market research companies to measure quality of retail service. The process involves sending individuals to act as shoppers to interact with the business as a normal customer and report on the experience. Dimexon can partner with customers to conduct such an exercise, which gives them feedback on the quality and performance of their brand, services and products. Instructions to mystery shoppers can include a script of behaviour, questions to ask, complaints to give, purchases to make, and measures to record, such as time it takes to receive attention from an employee or receive a service, or the responses given to questions. Dimexon provides the customer with a detailed report on the findings of the exercise.
